The MSV: a hidden treasure
The Museum of the Shenandoah Valley is a hidden treasure.
A little off the beaten trail in the town of Winchester, Virginia, is the MSV. Their permanent and seasonal exhibits are well curated and the wings that speak of the regional history are family friendly (read: there’s opportunity for all to guess the function of old farm implements or to learn of the family roots of those who settled the valley). This is definitely a must see museum that can easily fill your day — several days if you’re like me and want to see and read everything. And the last time I checked, Wednesday’s are the best day to visit due to the generosity of a few corporate donors.
Oh yeah — Don’t forget to walk about the outdoor garden: where the images that follow were photographed.
