Our Wedding Day

The day our adventure became official.

Hi.

Welcome to our travel-blog where we’ll document our exploits related to travel, food, and adventure. Have a nice visit. Stay for awhile. And then come back again & again!

Go Army! Eat at Joe's!

It has been said that one of the very best venues for viewing a college football game is at Michie Stadium at West Point, New York. Well, I second that! Furthermore, I’d like to add that if you can visit the United States Military Academy during a reunion or “homecoming” weekend, do so.

Here are a few images captured during my 40th reunion. They include random candid photos of Julia’s first visit to my alma mater and a few behind the scenes images which many visitors will never see.

What to see?

Do visit Trophy Point, the museum & visitors’ center, as well as the Cadet Protestant Chapel. Drop by the Catholic and Jewish Chapels as well but know they are smaller and you may need to ask a cadet how to find them. Walk across The Plain so long as there’s no parade scheduled. Soak in the history of this place and enjoy the natural beauty of this rock-bound highland home to the Long Gray Line. Details for a visit to West Point can be found here.

Where to Stay?

If you’re a member of a West Point Reunion Class, then by all means stay at one of the hotels arranged for by the reunion committee for that’s where most of your friends will be seen. If you’re not so lucky, do consider staying at the historic Thayer Hotel. It’s a bit pricey but located right on the Academy grounds and the staff there can definitely handle any questions about places to see, hours of operation, etc.

After my reunion, Julia and I opted to visit Chinatown in New York City. And according to my wife, there’s only one place to eat if you’re looking for authentic soupy buns — Joe’s Shanghai.
