Where in the world is Moosic, Pennsylvania?!
Julia and I along with a bunch of our fellow Scouters found ourselves in Northeastern Pennsylvania for a Wood Badge Course Directors Conference held coincidentally on my last birthday. What a treat to celebrate with a cake (while in uniform) and then at the local BBQ & pub (after our Scouting duties were done).
Here you can see that the business of training adult volunteers continues even during the COVID19 pandemic. The staff supporting this course directors conference kept their distance, wore masks while in attendance at the conference and face-shields when actually presenting their material.
It was a great surprise to celebrate my (read: John’s) 64th birthday while in Moosic. And if not attacked by wild bears, I hope to celebrate with good friends in similar fashion next year and in many years after that.
Yes, we were in anthracite coal country while at that conference. That’s Julia standing behind some hard coal located at the Northeastern Pennsylvania Scout Service Center.
The Food & Fire BBQ wasn’t serving flights of beer when we were there. However, I’d like to thank the staff there who upon hearing that it was my birthday, they made an exception to their policy and allowed for me to sample a few locally crafted beers before settling on a yummy IPA to go with dinner.
